Organizations often have varied and diverse offerings when it comes to stock and bonus programs. Capturing the appropriate specifics not only helps you house details in an easy-to-find format, but also provides a representative view of reality when comparing data apples-to-apples, and gathering insights to build a competitive and winning offer.
With Compa, you can:
Quickly add a custom vesting schedule
Customize the amount per year for sign-on bonuses
It's important to note that while functionality for assigning custom timing for stock or bonuses is the same, the application will be different between Pay Insights as shared by the candidate and creating an offer. Specifically:
Pay elements within Pay Insights are intentionally more generic to account for variation across many organizations
Pay elements within Offer Builder are specific to your organization's compensation programs
The below instructions are generalized to show custom timing for stock and/or bonus and may or may not be applicable in your Offer Builder (i.e., your organization may not offer Refresh Grants.)
To get started, navigate to a candidate's detail screen. Click on any of the Pay Insights tiles (Current Pay, Pay Expectations, Competing Offer) or on the Create Offer button.

Stock Compensation
From the Pay Insight tile or Offer Builder, choose the appropriate Stock Compensation pay element. (Reminder: This option will only be available in Offer Builder for those organizations that have Stock Compensation.)

Choose the type of stock from the dropdown
Enter a stock amount as shared by the candidate or based on your Offer guidelines
Pick a Duration from the dropdown
For Pay Insights, the default is 4 Years split evenly at 25% per year
For your Offer, the default will be based on configuration set at implementation
Based on the duration you've picked, edit the Year-Split by entering the appropriate percentages
If the split percentages do not add up to 100%, you'll receive an error warning
Click the "Fix" button and Compa will change the value in the last input field so the sum equals 100%
Click "+ Add Pay Element" to enter more data, or save to exit
New Hire and/or Refresh Grant
From the Pay Insight tile or Offer Builder, choose the appropriate pay element. (Reminder: This option will only be available in Offer Builder if your organization offers new hire and/or refresh grants.)

Choose the type of stock from the dropdown, if applicable
Enter an amount as shared by the candidate or based on your Offer guidelines
Pick a Duration from the dropdown
Note: default is 4 Years split evenly at 25% per year
For your Offer, the default will be based on configuration set at implementation
Based on the duration you've picked, edit the Year-Split by entering the appropriate percentages
If the split percentages do not add up to 100%, you'll receive an error warning
Click the "Fix" button and Compa will change the value in the last input field so the sum equals 100%
Pick a vesting start from the dropdown (note: default will be Year 1)
Compa will automatically reset the split amounts commensurate with the associated vesting start
Click "+ Add Pay Element" to enter more data, or save to exit
New Hire / Sign-on Bonus
From the Pay Insight tile or Offer Builder, choose the New Hire / Sign-on Bonus pay element. (Reminder: This option will only be available in Offer Builder if your organization offers new hire / sign-on bonuses.)

Enter a new hire / sign-on bonus amount as shared by the candidate or based on your Offer guidelines
Pick a Duration from the dropdown (note: default is 1 Year duration at 100%)
For your Offer, the default will be based on configuration set at implementation
If the duration is 2 Years, edit the Year-Split by entering the appropriate percentages (note: default is 50/50 split)
If the split percentages do not add up to 100%, you'll receive an error warning
Click the "Fix" button and Compa will change the value in the last input field so the sum equals 100%
Click "+ Add Pay Element" to enter more data, or save to exit
